Synergy Deca Setup

home : quad tips
Synergy Deca logoWhen I first got the Deca 1 I didn't have a manual, so had to make up both the naming and the method for setting it up. However I then was sent a copy by the kites designer, Mark Ricketts from Guildworks, which had a slightly different setup, which I have added here as well.

I have tried both and I have to say it's 50/50 which is the best - on my method you have to bend the main bow spar (CL-CR on the diagram), where as on the official method you end up having to bend the wing spars (AL-BL & AR-BR) more. On a windy flying field it doesn't make much difference. Try both then choose which is best for you.

KiteJan's Method (Wing Spar First)

  1. Starting with the kite rolled, unroll kite left to right, keeping the end caps CL and CR inside the sail.

  4. Put Main Bow Spars CL-DL and CR-DR (the ones marked with gold) above the sail with the bridle points at DL & DR above the sail and towards the centre of the kite.
  5. Insert left Wing Tip Spar AL-BL into the silver left hand wing end caps A & B (Fig 5).

  6. Insert left hand Main Bow Spar CL-DL into gold end cap CL,checking that bridle is not wrapped around the spar. Note you have to pull quite hard to bend the spar to do this).

  7. Fit central Main Spar DL-DR into DL and DR connectors to form the entire Main Bow Spar.
  8. Insert right Wing Tip Spar AR-BR into the right hand wing silver end caps A & B.
  9. Flex entire Main Spar and fix into the gold DR connector. Note you have to ensure that the central spar is fully in the connectors, otherwise it will snap at the ends when the spar is flexed.
  10. Check again that all bridle points on the end caps are untwisted, and that the kite looks asymmetrical.
  11. Attach flying lines on the attachment points Top: EL & ER, Bottom: FL & FR
