South American Fighter Kites
More fighter kites

This pack of eight fighter kites from Chile was given to me in 2004 by a Chilien friend who knew I was interested in kites. They are all made in the traditional way of tissue paper and bamboo and are obviously designed for single use. Since at the time I had never flown a fighter kite I didn't dare fly any of them (the kites needing a bridle didn't help either) as I knew I would trash them before getting the hand of fighter kite flying.

Consequently they have been kept in their plastic wrapping ever since. One nice, sunny, low wind day I will try flying them for the first time.....  Until that time they will stay in their plastic wrapping!

Purchased: September 2004

No idea - they were a gift.

Good Things

  • Traditional South American Kite
  • No idea - will have to fly them first!

Bad Things

  • Obviously fragile and designed for 'single use'.

Final Thoughts

They do look nice and I would like to try them out - but I think spending time on the other fighters would be a good idea first otherwise I will break all eight before actually flying them! Time will tell what happens.....
