This is actually my daughter's kite. The Dancer is obviously intended for children or beginners, as it's very small, light (but with fiberglass spars), comes complete, and actually flies very well. It does however need a fair amount of wind to actually fly, but given that it is good simple fun.

Purchased: May 2002

Good Things

  • Simple to assemble.
  • Easy and fun to fly (very easy to control).
  • Strong & well made (within reason).
  • Even in strong winds does not generate any pull (useful for children).

Bad Things

  • Simple - can't trick fly it!
  • Doesn't fly at all in lighter winds - gets frustrating for children (and their parents).
  • In stronger winds can get very fast due to it's small size.
  • Adults (if they get into kite flying) will soon out grow it.

Final Thoughts

This is a good kite for children's occasional use, but I have to say that this has never been flown much by my own children. The Decathlon Triboard seems to appeal to them a lot more, and certainly has a much wider wind range. Even the old Decathlon Wing 165, and the New Tech Pyro are both enjoyed more than the Dancer.

Certainly if you are an adult wanting a kite for yourself steer clear of this one - there are much better kites to learn on, without spending much more.
