Starting with the kite rolled up,
unroll it to get the basic shape.
Don't worry about the bridle being a bit tangled at this point - it's
not as bad as it looks. Honest.
Assemble the wing tips by inserting the thin wing spars
into the ferrules. Make sure that they
are pushed in as far as they can go. You need to check that the bridle
isn't caught anywhere it shouldn't be.
Insert the top spreader on both sides of
the leading edge - it's held in place when put away by the rubber 'O'
ring - so the spar can rotate through 90 degrees without any problem.
Insert the bottom spreaders into the 'T' piece down the
spine of the kite. Again make sure these are fully pushed in. Whilst
doing this stage you need to make sure that the bridle isn't wrapped
around any of the spars.
Inset the stand-offs - the outer ones (the ones closest to
the leading edge) bend a lot, the inner ones don't. Make sure that the
little rubber connectors haven't moved on the spreader spars - the
distances need to be identical on the left & right sides of the
kite & and the stand-offs should be at right angles to the
spreaders.
Finally attach the trick line to the wing tips - this also
helps with keeping the sail tensioned.
Note that the line through the trailing edge of the kite (the leach
line) also connects here. The trick line is attached to a loop of
bridle line with two knots in - the loop end hooks into the notch at
the end of the wing spar, passes through a little tab on the sail, then
passes back through the notch like this:
I found that this was not clearly explained in the Obsession manual
& took a bit of trail an error to get it right.
